Sailors Drop Home Opener
Submitted By General Manager on Sunday, September 12, 2010
With a bench already shortened by injury, the Sailors dropped their home opener to the Wingham Ironmen Saturday night by a score of 8-3.

After falling behind 2-0, short-handed goals by Brett Austin and Josh Martel knotted the score at two heading into the second period.  Brandon Dykxhoorn put the Sailors ahead just over four minutes into the second, but from there, a combination of discipline, fatigue, and trouble getting used to an extra set of eyes with the new four-man officiating system led to 4 straight goals by the Ironmen - two on the powerplay.  The Ironmen added two more powerplay markers in the third.  Greg Trotter picked up an assist for the Sailors.

The Sailors next action is Friday, September 17 at the MRC vs last year's league champions the Walkerton Hawks.  Game time is at 8:30pm.
